Since 2000 the A132 has seen 1,092 collisions, 23 of them fatal and 166 serious. That ranks it 458th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 21.1 per 1,000 collisions, and 17% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 56% since 2000, from 82 to 36 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in Basildon, Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea.
