Since 2000 the A224 has seen 1,469 collisions, 19 of them fatal and 199 serious. That ranks it 324th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 12.9 per 1,000 collisions, and 15% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 43% since 2000, from 70 to 40 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in Bromley, Sevenoaks and Bexley.
