Since 2000 the A444 has seen 2,841 collisions, 43 of them fatal and 350 serious. That ranks it 139th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 15.1 per 1,000 collisions, and 14% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 62% since 2000, from 178 to 68 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in Nuneaton and Bedworth, Coventry and South Derbyshire.
