Since 2000 the A4500 has seen 1,516 collisions, 18 of them fatal and 267 serious. That ranks it 311th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 11.9 per 1,000 collisions, and 19% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 27% since 2000, from 89 to 65 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in West Northamptonshire and North Northamptonshire.
