Since 2000 the A460 has seen 1,672 collisions, 24 of them fatal and 146 serious. That ranks it 271st of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 14.4 per 1,000 collisions, and 10% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 51% since 2000, from 89 to 44 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in Cannock Chase, South Staffordshire and Wolverhampton.
