Since 2000 the A585 has seen 1,202 collisions, 18 of them fatal and 205 serious. That ranks it 400th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 15 per 1,000 collisions, and 19% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 45% since 2000, from 62 to 34 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in Wyre, Fylde and Preston.
