Since 2000 the A647 has seen 3,015 collisions, 54 of them fatal and 408 serious. That ranks it 129th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 17.9 per 1,000 collisions, and 15% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 63% since 2000, from 210 to 77 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in Bradford, Leeds and Calderdale.
