Since 2000 the A725 has seen 1,107 collisions, 16 of them fatal and 150 serious. That ranks it 448th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 14.5 per 1,000 collisions, and 15% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 85% since 2000, from 100 to 15 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire.
