Since 2000 the A83 has seen 1,049 collisions, 53 of them fatal and 267 serious. That ranks it 480th of 6,754 numbered A, B and M roads by total recorded collisions. Its fatal rate is 50.5 per 1,000 collisions, and 31% caused death or serious injury. Collisions have fallen by about 68% since 2000, from 44 to 14 in 2024. The heaviest local concentrations are in Argyll and Bute, Glasgow City and Falkirk.
